CARACASBAY SIGHTSEEING
Explore the rugged beauty and history of the Caracasbaai Peninsula on an adventurous sightseeing and hiking tour. The route takes you past several scenic viewpoints overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the calm lagoon of Spanish Water. One of the highlights is a stop at historic Fort Beekenburg, built in 1703 to guard the entrance to Spaanse Water and protect the island from pirate attacks and enemy fleets. From the fort and nearby viewpoints you can enjoy sweeping views of Caracasbaai, the surrounding hills, and the turquoise waters that made this area strategically important for centuries.
From there the tour continues on foot along the rocky coastline and up a scenic hill with an impressive panoramic view over the entire Spanish Water lagoon. Along the way you’ll experience the wild coastal landscape, hidden coves, and dramatic cliffs that make this peninsula one of the island’s most beautiful natural areas. This tour is somewhat adventurous and requires a normal level of fitness and mobility, as parts of the route include walking over uneven terrain and short uphill climbs. Pickup and drop-off from most accommodations can be arranged on request.
